In this last video, I share how I sew my rows to each other. Using the same stitch that I used to sew the hexies and flowers.

Now, I’ll include some pictures from over the years of the process.

Now…I’ll just be over here sewing the rows to each other for awhile. NOTE: I found it was easier and faster to sew a single row to the rows that are already sewn together, than to sew two rows of two together…as shown in the 3rd video. Just easier to fold one row, sew, and fold and sew…and so on. Plus it’s easier to hold.

So…are you thinking you’d like to try making a hexie flower, yet you know you don’t want to make a quilt? Here is a hexie flower that I stitched down on a flower sack dish towel. After making the flower, I removed the papers from behind each hexie and then stitched it right down, with a straight stitch on my sewing machine. If I remember right, I just pinned or held it in place. If it’s moving on you, use some of the glue that you used to glue/baste your flower. That may help. If you don’t have any quilting glue…you can use a glue stick or Elmers glue. It will wash out. Don’t use hot glue or super glue.

Ive also seen hexie flowers on bags and zipper pouches. So, make one! It’s such a fun thing to try.
