Lisa’s Nearly Insane Quilt
Lisa made this incredible quilt. Wow, huh?!
This amazing quilt is called Nearly Insane by Liz Lois, and it’s a book filled with each of the blocks. You’ll have to search for it.
Lisa made all the blocks, except the ones along the edge awhile back and decided to finish it wall hanging size. To add an amazing finish, she scalloped the borders.
These blocks aren’t very big, I’m guessing around 6” to 6.5”. Which means the pieces are super tiny.
I used natural white Omni thread from Superior Threads to quilt it. Go to: https://www.superiorthreads.com/omni-3002-natural-white/p/134-02-3002?show=Cones and don’t forget to use my non-affiliate code ASTLEISHA at checkout to get 15% off your next order.
I also used 4 oz bamboo from Winline Textiles, which has such a beautiful drape!! Go to: https://www.winlinetextiles.com/winline-100bamboo-s/145.htm
I used my 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, and 9” Circle2 rulers to quilt the curves. My Circle2 rulers are available in my shop at: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop and they come in a set of 6, ranging in size from 2” up to 13”, with two sizes of circles per ruler.
I also used an Edge ruler for all the straight lines, from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple. Go to: https://www.thequiltedpineapple.com/shop/
I quilted a freehand ribbon candy in the inner border.
One of my favorite things to quilt in sashing that frames a block, is this simple arc design. I used my 9” Circle2 ruler to quilt that. It’s easy and beautifully framed each block.
Look at the 1/4” center square on the block above! This pattern really is “nearly insane”. It’s amazing she could get it to look so good.
I love what simple lines and curves does to highlight each block. I didn’t want to overdo the quilting and take away from the blocks.
Here are some close ups…
Amazing, huh???!!!
I also quilted pebbles in the red inner border, and yes, I only changed the thread to red for this inner border because it would have been crazy to change it for every red piece in each of the blocks.
I quilted my Swirly Feather freehand design in the outside scalloped border. It’s such an easy beautiful way to fill a background or border. I teach it along with other designs, like the pebbles above, in my Quilting It Freemotion video course on my website. Go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course …each video teaches one design. You can pick and choose which designs you’d like to learn or get the whole course. Check out the video at the top of that page to get an inside look at the course.
I’m so grateful for clients who let me work on their beautiful quilts. This one is stunning!!
