Angie’s Christmas Alphabet Quilt

The holidays have come and gone and I forgot I wanted to share this incredible quilt with you.

Angie got together with a group of quilty friends and made this darling alphabet Christmas quilt.

They each chose some letters and did a block for each person in the group. There’s some pretty incredible details on each of the blocks. She recently did a Halloween one, and I am so excited to quilt it.

There is no pattern for this quilt. They each came up with their own ideas for their blocks.

Check out the fun details!!

There are beads, buttons, bows, and you can see how dimensional Santa is, so I just had to quilt around them as best I could.

I quilted my freehand Overlapping Circles design in the background, which is great around appliqué. It’s probably my favorite because I can make it look good between all of the tiny pieces. I teach my Overlapping Circles design in my Quilting It Freemotion course. I would love to teach you how to quilt it. I used Natural White Omni thread from Superior Threads. Don’t forget that you can use my non-affiliate code ASTLEISHA at checkout for 15% off your order. Here is the thread I used: https://www.superiorthreads.com/omni-3002-natural-white/p/134-02-3002?show=Cones

Here are some close-ups on some of the darling blocks.

When I quilted around the Santa Claus, I actually was able to fold in the arms, legs, and part of the coat. It was easy to work around.

These pearls were a fun touch on this mistletoe block.

In some of the appliqué pieces I did add a little bit of quilting if I felt like it was necessary or would enhance the quilt. Also, if the layers were flat like the nativity pieces above.

How cute is this quilted stocking?! The mouse even had a pillow and a cute little santa hat.

You can see that they added beads in the snow globe above. In a quilt like this it’s all about the details.

How darling is that village?! Some of the blocks had wool, too.

I loved this beautiful wreath block!

You’ll see that I quilted some wood green into this yule log.

I used an Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt the crosshatching in this checkered block. Go to: https://www.thequiltedpineapple.com/shop/

I also used 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles. https://www.winlinetextiles.com/blended-battings-winline-comfort-blend-s/127.htm
