These are my Circle2™ machine quilting circle ruler set of 6 rulers, and they are an additional $10 off, no code needed. They come in clear or green high quality 1/4” acrylic. There are two sizes of circles per ruler, and are designed to give you the correct size of circles when you quilt. The 3” ruler will give you a 3” circle, I considered the 1/2” that the hopping foot adds. They range in size from 2”-13”.
There are lines every 1/4” with measurements on both flat ends.

If you’ve been around here for awhile, then you know how much I LOVE Laser Cut Quilts “Flexi Fuse” interfacing!!! It is an absolute breeze to quilt through. Their laser cut kits are backed with their Flexi Fuse, however they also offer Flexi Fuse in sheets or on a roll. I encourage you to try it!! You won’t want to use another interfacing again. It is so light weight my machine has no issues quilting through multiple layers, plus it doesn’t make your quilt hard and crunchy.
Onto the quilting…can you tell I had fun with this one?!?!!!! I used a cream thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
I wanted the quilting to enhance the overall butterfly details without taking away from it. I also wanted it to look organic and not symmetrical. With the pebbles, feathers, and cross hatching I think it turned out pretty awesome!
I used my favorite 8” Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt the cross hatch and the horizontal lines in the body of the butterfly. I also only quilted a few different parts of the appliqué. The background is quilted tight enough it helps the appliqué pop. Personally, I also think it’s unnecessary to quilt everything. Over quilting appliqué can tend to take away from the beauty of the appliqué.
This will be such a fun new project to start in the spring of 2021!!

Fall 2020 Client Quilts
Hello!!
Happy fall or spring, depending on where you live. Our fall has been colorful and warm…compared to other years. It’s typically freezing by now. I hope you’re enjoying whatever season you’re in!
I have oodles of quilts to share with you. Some are computerized quilting and some are custom quilted by me. There is definitely a place for both of them!!
First up…this sweet pumpkin quilt made by Sherry. Pattern is called Mini Pumpkin’s by Sew Kind of Wonderful.
I used a white Omni thread to quilt it and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
We decided on my Sweet Orange Peel©️ quilting design for the quilting!! I love it! It’s only available in my shop and in the Gammill Pattern Cloud. I recommend quilting this no bigger that 4”, if I remember right…I quilted this one at 3”ish.
I love how the quilting fits the modern look of this quilt!!

Next, this fun Halloween runner made by Sherry. It was a kit and pattern by My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe called Halloween Around the Block.
Runners like this give me the opportunity to add lots of fun textures in all the different blocks. It’s a great way to have something custom quilted.
The spider block is definitely my favorite, with the overlapping circles and interwoven background. Go to my YouTube channel for videos on how to quilt both of these designs.
I’m loving the texture in the bow tie border blocks. It’s an imperfect arched swirl. Also that candy corn was so fun to quilt!!
I used white thread and Sherry had a batting scrap leftover from another quilt.
This stunning quilt was made by Orange Peel Sews for her mom. The pattern is called Wonky Stars. There are several different designers for this particular pattern…do a google search and find one that suits you.
Abby loves straight lines…can you blame her? This is just so perfect for this quilt and it’s modern style. I quilted the lines 3/4” apart.

Next up, these fun whale quilts made by Kathy. She made two for a couple of her grandsons. Pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman and is called Preppy Pod.
I used a royal blue color of thread and my favorite 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline.
Kathy brought minky for the backings, which adds some nice cuddle to it.
I used the Ocean Waves design by Kim Diamond. Which turned out so fun with the whales.
Next, Kim’s two little granddaughters each made a beach themed quilt. They did a pretty great job!! I don’t know the pattern name, sorry!!
I freehand quilted each row, except for the petals in the squares. For the petals I used my 3” Circle2 machine quilting circle ruler, which is available in my shop.
I used a white thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Next up, this incredible quilt made by Susan. It’s called Stonefields by Susan Smith.
Susan wanted custom and the added puff of two layers of batting. I used Winline’s 8020 on the base and Hobbs wool on top. I also used a light cream Omni thread.
I highlighted each 6” block with individual details, which shows off each block.
For all the straight lines that I custom quilt, I use Linda from The Quilted Pineapple’s Edge rulers.
Next, this fun quilt made by Lisa for her 2 year old son. The pattern is by Kristin Rauch from Woolley Petals and is called Floored Quilt.
We decided on this fun Outer Space design by Sarah Ann Myers. It’s available at Urban Elementz.
I used a cream Omni thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

This incredible quilt was made by my sister for her husband. It’s called Interwoven by Lo & Behold Stitchery.
My sister and I started this together, and she diligently kept working on it!! I’m impressed with her pinning skills, she did great at lining up all of those seams.
My brother in-law chose Diagonal Plaid for the quilting, which is by Patricia Ritter and is available at Urban Elementz.
I think I used a cream A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting. Then I finished off the binding for my sister, so she didn’t have to as a new mom. Which was fun to surprise her with.
Next, Laura Lee found these blocks at a thrift store and knew she couldn’t pass them up. She sewed them together and is giving it to her son. If you know the pattern name, please let me know and I’ll share that here.
I used a golden A&E Perma core thread, and I think that Laura provided the batting…which was an 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

I used my Squared©️ design to quilt it, and I love the texture it created on these blocks. Squared is available in my shop.
It’s so fun for me to see the designs that I create on quilts!!
Next, this lovely quilt made by Barbara. It’s called Pumpkins and Cream by Fig Tree Quilts.
The pictures definitely don’t do this beautiful quilt justice!
I used Grapevine by Denise Schillinger, and it’s available at Urban Elementz. It’s one of my favorite leaf designs.
I used a cream Omni thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
When it comes to picking quilting designs, I like to pick a design that goes with the theme of the quilt but not the exact same thing. For instance, leaves go great with fall and pumpkins. A pumpkin design would be great, too, but for me that’s just too matchy matchy. I like the design to complement not compete.
This incredible quilt was made by Joleen. It’s called Nearly Insane by Liz Lois. The border is from another quilt called Home Sweet Home.
I wish I got better pictures of this quilt, it’s incredible!!
I love the curves in the sashing which frame each of the blocks nicely. I used a cream thread on most of the quilt and a red thread on the inner border and scallops. I used Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
I quilted a 3/4” cross hatch on point in the border, and feathers in the scallops on the border.
Like I mentioned with Susan’s quilt above, I tried to highlight each block with some light custom quilting as requested by Joleen.
So many fun details on this one!
Next up, a fun baby quilt made by Julie.
This is a panel with some borders sewn on.
I used our Arrowhead©️ design to quilt it. It’s available at Urban Elementz.
I also bound this one for Julie. I used a white Omni thread and she provided a lofty polyester batting.
Next, another panel quilt this one was made by Wendy.
It’s fun to add some quilty texture to these cute panels.
We decided on Patricia Ritter and my Merriment©️ design for the quilting. It’s available at Urban Elementz.
Next, this fun dimensional quilt was made by Laura Lee. Laura Lee design it herself, and it’s called 3D Bow Tie. The center on point squares are dimensional.
She wanted it light custom quilted because the back is minky. So I used my favorite 8” Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt all the lines in the blocks and sashing. Then I quilted feathers in the borders.
I used a cream thread and an 8020 batting.

Next, this quilt is a treasure!! Debbie’s mother hand embroidered each of these blocks and then sashed them with her drapery fabric. Debbie definitely understands the work that goes into a quilt like this, and will treasure it forever!!

I love when the quilting designs that I do in sashing turn out this good!! It frames the blocks so nicely. I used one of my Circle2™ machine quilting circle rulers for the curves…I think the 7” or 8”. I match the circle rulers to specific sizes on the quilts. That’s why it’s great to have the full set. My Circle2™ rulers are only available in my shop.
I used a cream thread and Winline’s cotton poly blend batting.
Debbie’s mom marked some echoed lines around the embroidery, so I tried to quilt right on top of her lines. Then I quilted feathers and ribbon candy in the borders.
Lastly, my mom made this sweet baby quilt for one of my cousins. She used the 24” Swoon block by Thimble Blossoms and then added some borders. I think the inside border is cut at 2.5”, the thin colored border cut at 1”, and the outer border cut at 5.5”. Make sure that is correct if you make one, so that it works for adequate fabric for the backing…because you can just use the width of the fabric and not have to piece the backing.
She used some of Bonnie and Camille’s fabrics, too!
I used New Moon Loops by Wasatch Quilting. It came on my Gammill Statler machine as a free design. I like to offset it at 50%.
Look how sweet those Bonnie and Camille fabrics are together!! My mom used fabrics from Sisters and Quilters online fabric shop.
I used a light cream thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

Above is the green set and below is the clear set. The green set makes it easier to see the lines on the rulers when quilting on lighter fabrics. Otherwise, they are the exact same.

• New Quilting Designs •
Hello Quilting Friends!
It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. I’ve been quilting, and have a bunch of fun quilts to share with you, but first I have some new fun quilting designs. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you may have seen them. I had some requests for designs, and then I kept going and came up with a few more. Patricia Ritter and I also have a fun new design as well.
This first new design was a request from another quilter. She was looking for a fun peppermint candy design, we decided to name it Sugar Baby©️ and it’s available at Urban Elementz. It would be fun to use on a Halloween quilt or even a Valentines quilt…did you notice the little hearts in the sides of the wrapper. I think it turned out extra sweet!!
The rest of these designs are my new designs. They are all available in my shop and in the Gammill Pattern Cloud.
This first one is called Flight©️! I’ve been wanting to do a masculine airplane design that wasn’t too little boyish for awhile, and I love how it turned out!! I’m so excited to use this one on a quilt! The picture above shows the design manually offset. It’s not offset at 50% like some of my other designs. When I do a manual offset during quilting setup, I select every other row and move them all together. The picture below shows it without the offset, which is also great!!
Next up, Grove©️!
Grove©️ can be offset at 50% like pictured above or not like pictured below. My friend already used this on a quilt, it turned out fabulous!

Next, Wicker©️!! So excited about this one…also a design I’ve wanted to digitize for awhile. This design needs to nest well and may require extra attention. If it doesn’t touch, as pictured, the design won’t be complete. The each row fills in a spot for the row above it, this helps with less stitching over already quilted lines. Also, it’s my experience that using Repeat Pattern mode instead of Edge to Edge mode…for the Gammill Statler, is so much better for getting designs to line up accurately. If you don’t have a Gammill, hopefully you have similar options to the one I’ve mentioned. Also, just a reminder of what I do to get designs to line up better…check out this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/T1i1zOROKp0
* Also, it’s important to note that quilts shrink as they are quilted, especially when using a lofty batting. If you use any design with rows that touch, plan to give it extra attention.
Next, this is Gem©️! This was another request from a longarm quilter. She’s already purchased Gem, XOXO, and Wicker…so excited to see which quilts she puts them on. This is going to be similar to my Sweet Orange Peel©️ design, as far as it lining up. Once again…Repeat Pattern mode has made that so slick and exact for me. I’ll share more details on how I set up designs in Repeat Pattern mode soon.
I also have this cute XOXO©️ design, which was also a request. It too, will stitch out like Sweet Orange Peel©️ and Gem©️, as far as it lining up from row to row.
Next up, Spinner©️!! Loving this one! It’s offset at 50% to get the desired layout as pictured.
This is Skipper©️, also offset at 50%. If your machine software doesn’t allow you to easily offset a design at 50% with the click of a button, I would suggest selecting every other row and dragging them until you get the desired offset.
Next, Kapari©️! I think the name fits it perfectly. No offset required for this one. I always adjust the spacing so it nests well, as pictured.
This is Chip©️! Does it look like a chip to you, too…haha! Funny name, but the texture of this design is fabulous. It’s actually a windmill shape, but when you get the design to touch it turns into a completely different design.
Last new design is Southwest©️. It reminds me of an arrow and a chevron, all in one design. The spacing between the rows adds the right amount of negative space to add more dimension to the design.

First up…this cool star quilt is for Shelley’s new grandson! She found the pattern in Modern Patchwork’s Sept/Oct 2018 magazine issue. It’s by Krystina Hopkins and is called Star Shadows. Shelley requested my On Point©️ quilting design for the quilting. Which is pictured below. However, you may notice that the squares are diamonds. Next up…this incredible quilt was made by Sherry. It’s called Granny’s Garden by a Lori Holt, and she did it as a sew along. Lori teaches a technique, so that the edges aren’t raw and fraying.
So many fun beautiful flowers.
I used my favorite 8020 cotton poly blend batting and a cream thread.
I quilted my freehand overlapping circle design in the background, and the quilted something in each flower. I did quilt around each flower so that the circles would pop even more, especially because I didn’t quilt anything in the circles. Less is perfect sometimes, and I LOVE how this quilt turned out.

For the outside border I did a two stripe pin stripe, that matched up with the scallops. In the scallop border I added a little loop in the center of each scallop.
Next up, this amazing Poinsettia quilt made by Deana! It’s called, A Poinsettia Winter Quilt by Jason Yenter. The fabric line is by In the Beginning Fabrics.
I used Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting and a cream A&E 30 tex thread.
I did lots of ruler work, and some freehand quilting. I quilted a pinstripe starting in the garland out to the edge, and a feather swirl between that and the quilt blocks. I used Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple. https://thequiltedpineapple.bigcartel.com/
I used six of my twelve Circle2™ rulers. 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 7”, and 11”. I designed a set of machine quilting circle rulers that have 2 circles per ruler, hence the Circle2™ (circle squared) name. The circles range in size from 2”-13”. They are made from high quality acrylic, and come in green and clear. They are available in my shop. https://www.quiltingit.com/shop
Here is the set stack on top on one another. (In green) Below is the 5”/11” ruler. I designed them with the 1/4” hopping foot in mind, so your circles will be the correct size when you use them.

The block below is one of my favorites…of the quilting I did on this quilt.

I think I used the 4” ruler around the block, and then one of Linda’s Edge rulers to quilt the zig zag.

I also did a freehand circle and swirl in the inner border. That’s such a fun thing to quilt in a border.
I just love how all the quilting harmonizes with one another!!

I used Patricia Ritter and my Birchwood©️ design to quilt it. The backing is Minky, and it has to be pinned onto the canvases on the cut ends, so the design is running vertically, and I love it!! I’d like to think this design is like a wood grain leaf. It has great movement!! It’s one of my favorites!!!

I used one of the Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple, to quilt the pinstriped border and the 1/2” on point grid in the background. There is that circle and swirl border again.
I used cream and red thread from A&E, in their respective places, and a scrap of batting leftover from the Legendary quilt.

Spring 2020 Client Quilts!
Hello there, I hope you’re well! Sending love to you all. The past few months have been hard for so many, and I hope this brings a little joy into your life.

This first quilt I shared as I quilted it, on Instagram. Made by Sherry. This is a fun one!!! Pattern is by Sew Kind of Wonderful and is called Cool Cars. Sherry loved the quilting that Jenny from Sew Kind of Wonderful did, so that’s what I used for inspiration.
I used Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple, to quilt all the straight lines.
For this I wanted a variety of textures, because I was quilting so many lines. The diamonds are 2” wide, with a diamond in the center and a back & forth freehand line with curved ends in the background to make the diamonds pop. I then quilted a vertical 1/2” line in all the cars. A woven 1/4” line design in all the car windows. And, to finish it off the horizontal lines behind the cars with ribbon candy quilted in some of those rows.
I used a light cream thread from A&E, and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Next, this fun leaf quilt was made by Terri. The quilt was a kit with the most beautiful fun fabrics, and is called Leafy by Elizabeth Hartman.
I used a darker cream 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020 to quilt it. I also quilt on a Gammill 22” machine, with the Statler option. I used the Statler to quilt this quilt.
She wanted something quilted tightly or close together.
So, we went with Patricia Ritter and my Kindling design, which is available at Urban Elementz.
Which I think adds just the right amount of texture!!!
Next up, a quilt made by Monica from @sewnbylovey and it’s such a fun quilt!!
This pattern is from Moda and is called Compass. I couldn’t find a link to the pattern, sorry!!
I used a white thread and the batting that Monica provided…if I remember right.
We talked about different designs, and decided on Good Vibrations by Patricia Ritter from Urban Elementz.
Next, a quilt that Abby from @orangepeelsews made for a friends daughter who just graduated from our high school.
She did a mix of t-shirts and fabric, and it’s one of my favorite t-shirt quilts that I’ve quilted.
I used a white thread and Winline’s 8020 batting.
We decided on Patricia Ritter and my Tahitian Pearl design, which is available at Urban Elementz. It’s such a fun and versatile design.

Next, this lovely quilt was made by Shelley! She said the pattern was an old one, that she couldn’t find. Sorry!!
This one is all about the texture, and I wish the pictures showed the fun fabrics she used better!
I did all the quilting freemotion.
I used an Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to do all the borders. I quilted the lines 3/4” apart, and I love how this design just fills up the border so nicely.
I used a tan thread from Superior Threads, if I remember right, and an 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline.
Here is a close up on the block. I quilted ribbon candy in the spokes, also circles and a 1/2” square grid on point. All without stopping, which makes it sooo much faster. That also includes the pebbles in the background.
Speaking of pebbles…introducing River Rocks, Patricia Ritter and my newest quilting design. It’s available at Urban Elementz. It’s so fun for me to take one of my freehand designs, and make it into a quilting design.
Also, I’m not quite sure if I mentioned this newer design. It’s called Scottish Plaid Hexies and is also available at Urban Elementz.
Next, this amazing quilt that Sherry made! It’s called Vintage Housewife, and was a sew along that Lori Holt did. I wish I got better pictures of this one, so sorry!!
I quilted this quilt freemotion, freehand and with rulers.
I really just wanted a lot of different textures, and I love how it turned out! Pebbles, swirly feathers, arcs, loops, ribbon candy, overlapping circles, stippling, crackle, grassy texture, and so many different lines!!!

Next, a simple baby quilt made by Diane.
She asked for a square quilting design, and I thought my Double Squared©️ would be perfect. It’s available in my shop, at Urban Elementz, or in the Gammill Pattern Cloud.
When I set up a design to stitch out, it’s important for me to get the spacing between the rows to be the same as the spacing in the design.
I used a cream thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Next, Kate made a couple of these table runners for her girls, using the Witches Night Out pattern by Its Sew Emma.
I used cream thread and Winline’s 8020 batting.
We decided on Haunted Web by Apricot Moon Designs, it’s available at Urban Elementz.
Kate also made the quilt!!

Next, a quilt that Shelley made.
Strips cut and sewn at different thicknesses and then set on the bias, with sashing in between.
Shelley requested my Hopscotch©️ quilting design for the quilting. Such a fun texture!! It’s available in my shop, at Urban Elementz, or in the Gammill Store.
I used a white thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

Next, another quilt made by Shelley. These circles are appliquéd on and stitched onto the square. She always chooses such fun fabrics for her circle quilts.
I used a darker cream thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Shelley requested my On Point©️, which comes as a square on point. But I asked how she’d feel if I made it a diamond shape instead. She was all for it. On the Statler that I quilt with, there is an option in the size (height/width) box called “Maintain Aspect” it should be checked normally. So, when you change the height of a design, the width stays in the right proportion. If you uncheck that option, you can then slightly change the size or stretch the design. That what I did here to get the squares to be diamond shape. It’s a easy fix!! If you don’t use a Gammill, you may have a similar option on your machine.
Another note about this design, if you offset it at 50% you can stitch it out without any double stitching or lines quilted over other quilted lines. I share how I offset designs in this video, using my Gammill Statler in CS7. https://youtu.be/tncw2-nQUpY

This is such a fun quilt, and I think the quilting is a perfect fit for it.

Next up, this amazing cuckoo clock quilt made by Sherry! The pattern is Cuckoo by Elizabeth Hartman.
This is such a incredible quilt!! Pictures definitely don’t do it justice.
I used Hexies by Patricia Ritter to quilt it. It was the perfect texture for these clocks. It’s available at Urban Elementz.

Next is a quilt made by Loranne. She has her first grand baby on the way.
She fussy cut the fabrics and then I think she put a 2.5” strip around them. So cute!!!
We decided on Mod Dots from Patricia Ritter available at Urban Elementz, for the quilting. Because of a vertical seam in the backing, I pinned the quilt on sideways…otherwise it can throw off the spacing on when the machine is quilting, so that’s why the design is running vertically on the quilt.
I used a tan thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Such a fun quilt, enjoy snuggling your new little one, Loranne!
Lastly, this beautiful quilt that Laura Lee made for her mother’s 90th birthday. Pattern is by Needles in a Hayes Stack. It was a block of the month from Missouri Star Quilt Co.
I used a cream thread everywhere except for the dark purple borders, I used purple on those. I used a king size 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline.
I did some computerized quilting on all the star blocks and snowball blocks, everything else I quilted free motion or freehand.
The block pictured above is called scf-196 Twirl Block v2 and the tulip design below is JK Fanciful Fluer block 6, which are both free designs that came on my Gammill Statler. I’m not sure the designers. This is all the information I could see.
I wanted to highlight the center section with a variety of textures in the borders. Lines and ribbon candy for the win!

I used my 13” Circle2 machine quilting circle ruler to quilt the curves in the yellow border, which are available in my shop in a set of 6 rulers. You get 12 sizes of circles, ranging from 2”-13”. - Circle2 Design Patent D875,574 -
Then I quilted circles in the purple border and swirly feathers in the outside border.
I love the mix of quilting textures. Simple individually but beautiful all together.

Happy spring!! I know we are in a weird place, with so many things being shut down, but I hope you’re well and finding things to create. I just started a new quilt last week, and my mom and I are starting to make masks for our family.
I wanted to share with you a couple of quilts that I quilted since my last blog post.
This is incredible!!! Every piece is needle turned, and done beautifully by Beth. The pattern is by Susan Smith called St Neot Band Sampler.
Seriously impressed with this quilt!!
Most of this quilt is quilted with a variation of circles, swirls, and feathers…with some lines in some of the appliqué pieces. I used Linda from The Quilted Pineapple’s 8” Edge ruler to do the lines.
Beth provided some bamboo batting, and I used light cream 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread.
I didn’t quilt in every appliqué piece, I don’t think it’s necessary.
She wanted some flowers quilted in the mix, too, and so I decided to make the center of the flower one of my overlapping circles.
Next, this fun quilt made by Sherry, for her kids that are graduating college next month.
The pattern is by Janice Holden from LYTM Designs, and is called Team Spirit.
I used a white 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread and my favorite Winline 8020 batting.
Sherry had the words and logo machine embroidered onto the quilt, which is great!!! When people ask if I can quilt words, I can, but they aren’t very noticeable. So, I always suggest machine embroidered words. Plus they look classy.
I used my Squared design to quilt this. It’s available in my shop or at Urban Elementz.
Squared is such a fun universal design!
Next…Breeze, a design by Patricia Ritter and I, is on sale this week over at Urban Elementz. It’s already discounted, no code necessary.
I quilted this quilt for Madi Hastings last fall, for International Quilt Market, it’s called Maiden of the Sea. I used Breeze in the background behind the mermaid. It has such great movement. Love it!! For more details check out the blog post for this quilt.

Here is a quick look at my newest quilt. Pattern is by Emily Dennis, and is called Jelly Rings Quilt. Yes, it’s a jellyroll pattern!! It’s a fun one, too. These are 4 of 30 blocks, and I’m using the Happy Go Lucky jellyroll from Bonnie and Camille. I’ve been holding onto it for awhile. Excited to see it come together.
This is what is on my machine for the week! Pattern is Cool Cars by Sew Kind of Wonderful, and was made by Sherry. She loved the quilting that Jenny from Sew Kind of Wonderful did, so I’m using that for quilting inspiration.

If you look super close, there are heart fabrics in this quilt…which I don’t know the name of, so she wanted a heart quilting design. I showed her Patricia Ritter and my Cupid©️ design, and she loved it. I think it looks so beautiful!!

That swirly heart texture is my favorite!!!

To go with the Vintage Lace theme of the quilt, we decided on Taka by Keryn Emmerson which is available at Urban Elementz.
This quilt is backed with a fluffy Minky, which adds a puffiness to the quilting texture.
Also made by Denise, this fun tree wall hanging is called The Giving Tree and is in the book by Sew Kind of Wonderful called Mini Wonderful Curves.
She wanted wood grain quilting, which I did freehand. Then I used my 4” Circle2™ ruler to quilt the star.
This texture is so fun!!

Next, this adorable panda quilt that Chris made for her granddaughter.
It’s called Cursive Panda Quilt by Vintagedoor. Chris added flowers, changed a few things on the pandas face…and it turned out so sweet.
I used one of Linda’s Edge rulers to quilt the lines, and then everything else was done freehand.
I used black thread on the back and white on everything else. I also used Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Love what simple lines or squares can add to the quilting texture on a quilt. Adding a variety of quilting designs, that harmonize together, creates fun textures and makes different parts of the quilt stand out more.

Last one for today…this sweet quilt was made by Sherry for a dear momma who is dying from cancer, to give to her daughter. Sherry’s sister made some more quilts for this momma’s other children. She wanted to leave her kids with a reminder of how much she loves them. When I have the opportunity to quilt a quilt for someone like this, it makes my job mean sooo much more. It adds a greater purpose to fabrics, threads, batting, and quilting designs.
The pattern is called Merry-Go-Round designed by Regina Girard and is in The Big Book of Strip Quilts by Karen M. Burns.
This quilt is jelly roll friendly…I have a jelly roll that would be perfect for it!!
I love these fun happy fabrics and colors.
With the hexagon fabrics, I decided to use Hexies by Patricia Ritter to quilt it. It’s available at Urban Elementz. I just love this quilting texture!
I used a white 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting. I hope this little girl feels extra love from her momma each time she is wrapped up in this quilt.

I hope your holidays were wonderful!! Mine were pretty great, with lots of family time. I also took some time off of working, which is always great! I’m also including the first two quilts I’ve quilted this year, because I haven’t quite blogged the other quilts yet. The more the merrier, right?!
This fun quilt was made by Mary. She took a leap and used light pink fabric, for the background, and I love it with the navy floral print!!
The quilt pattern is Jane’s Garden by Forget-Me-Not Quilt Design. I searched for it, and couldn’t find it. But I do know it was a class that My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe offered. So if you’re interested in this pattern, check with them. They may know how to locate it.
I used my Diamond Chain©️ to quilt it. It’s available in my shop or at Urban Elementz, in several different digital formats. When I saw the angles and points in the quilt pattern, I knew this design would be a great match for this quilt.

For the quilting in the pears themselves, I did a different line design in each one. Some are very similar, but they are still different. I also quilted pebbles and ribbon candy in the sashing or borders. All freemotion quilting. I used my favorite Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple.
Next up, also by Mary…this super fun quilt!!!!
The quilt pattern is by A Scarlet Thread and is called Starry Eyed Sixteen. I couldn’t find it for sell anywhere online when I searched. I used Dyed Natural 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020.
She told me she wanted something to highlight the star block, and orange peel in the square block. So I drew the star block on a piece of graph paper, and gave Mary a couple of different options. She loved one but wanted one part from the other design included. I love how it turned out. Beautifully showcasing the star, yet harmonizing with the orange peel. Plus, it goes so well with the fabrics from Cotton and Steel.
I used 3 of my Circle2™ machine quilting circle rulers, to quilt this quilt and Linda’s 8” Edge ruler. I used my 4” Circle2™ ruler to quilt the curves inside the star block. The 6” Circle2™ ruler to quilt the curves in the squared block, and the 13” Circle2™ ruler to quilt the curves in the inner border.
I just love the look of all the curves and lines together!! Often my clients want custom, yet not overly quilted. This quilt is still soft and cuddly, yet has more detail in the quilting.
Here is a look at that inner border curve, using that 13” Circle2™ ruler. These rulers come in a set of 6, and you get 12 different sizes of circles. 2”-13”. Also, the border has my 1/2” line design. I started do this in borders and as a background filler, when I didn’t quite know what to do. I love it. There is no rhyme or reason to it, random different angles. I do make sure when I quilt a line, that I quilt multiple lines parallel to it. If a single line is quilted to give a set of lines a boundary, it interrupts the woven look of the design. So I suggest quilting multiple lines, before moving onto the next set of lines. Next up, this awesome quilt that Caroline made using old jeans and clothes. I love the mix of blue denim with the variety of clothing squares.
Now…some of my clients know I don’t typically quilt quilts with jeans in them. In the past the mother board on our machine got fried because the needle was struggling to go into different seams on a bulky denim quilt, and yes, I was using a big needle. When the mother board is fried, the machine doesn’t work. So, I’ve steered clear of denim quilts. The reason Caroline’s quilt was okay is because the denim is sharing a seam with the thinner clothing squares. Thick denim seams, especially in the corners, are just too hard for the needle to get through.
I think the squares are cut 6.5” and 2.5”. I used a Dyed Natural A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
Caroline wanted a simple line design, so I used Linda’s Edge rulers, to quilt an X in the bigger square and an X in 4 of the smaller squares. Which actually turned out pretty fun, when you look at it all together.
Remember last year…I told you I quilted some fabric for my sister to make stockings??? Which was December 2018. We got around to making them before this last Christmas, so they could hang up in their new home. One for her, her husband, and their pup Milo. He’s seriously my favorite!!
Here he is!! Because, why not pause and share that cute face. He’s a Bichon Frise Toy Poodle, and a ball of energy. When we see him he is so excited he jumps repeatedly until we pick him up. I just love him! Awe, that snowy nose.
For the stockings I quilted the fabric like I would a quilt. The lining was the “quilt backing”, and the top was the white. Fabrics are available at Sisters and Quilters. We bound the inside seams, so the stockings could be reversible, and then the tops, with an additional tab to hang them with.
I used my Starlight©️ design to quilt the fabric. We actually quilted enough fabric for her to make several stockings, for the children they hope to have someday.
Next up, this king size circle quilt made by Terri.
Terri brought a king size Quilters Dream Wool batting, and I used a light grey Omni thread.
She told me to quilt a variety of different designs, so I did…haha!! I ended up being able to quilt 3 rows in one section. With 324 circles, I knew it was going to take me awhile, and yet, I didn’t want to quilt the same thing over and over. So I quilted 27 different designs twice in each section. Once again, some are very similar, yet they are still different.
I also quilted the background with a swirly feather, which was perfect for the fabrics that she used, but also easier and faster for me, as it helped me get from one circle to the next. I got a few ideas from Natalia Bonner, who is doing a daily quilt along for a year. Each day she shares how to quilt a different design in a shape. The third set of 9 circles. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. Most lines are 1/2” apart. Some like that bottom right pin stripe is 1/4” for the pin stripe and 3/4” for the space in between.
Here are some of my favorites!! That top circle with the arc, I used one of my Circle2™ rulers to quilt it, if I remember right it was the 4” one. I also love the variety of different textures these designs created next to one another, with the swirly feather of course. No quilt pattern for this one. She needle turned the circles, with an extra layer of fabric, and no interfacing which made it so easy for me to quilt. She put 4 circles on one square, and then sewed the squares together.
Next up, this fun quilt made by LeAnn.
The pattern is by Abbey Lane Quilts and is called Words of Wisdom.
She had minky on the backing, so the quilting pops even more.
I used a tan Omni thread, if I remember right…or maybe a cream Perma Core thread. I also used Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
We decided on a traditional quilting pattern, which goes so well with the fabrics and quilt pattern. My and Patricia Ritter’s Venice Too design, which is available at Urban Elementz.
Next up, another sweet quilt made by LeAnn.
She used Lella Boutique’s fabrics and her Kith & Kin pattern.
I chose the Mackintosh Rose design by Natalie Gorman, to quilt it. It’s available at Urban Elementz. It couldn’t be more perfect with these fabrics. So so sweet!
I used Antique Cream 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
This right here is why I LOVE solid minky vs. any textured minky. That texture wouldn’t be as glorious if there was an added texture to the minky fabric. Go solid when you pick a minky, and the quilting will be amazing on the backing, too!
I had the privilege of watching this sweet quilt be made. Each week we sew with a friend or two or three, and Ramona has very diligently been stitching away.
The pattern is by Bareroots and is their Flower Quilt. I wish you could see all the delicate flowers that she hand embroidered.
The pattern has you stitch a layer of batting in wherever you embroider flowers, which made it extra puffy when I quilted it. She used the same 8020 cotton poly blend batting that I used to quilt it, when she did the hand embroidery. I also used Dyed Natural A&E Perma Core thread.
She wanted the quilting simple. I stitched in the ditch around each embroidered part, and then did pebbles in the borders of the blocks. Then I did ribbon candy on the outside border. Just look how sweet those flowers and leaves are. Pictures don’t do this quilt justice.
Next up, the first quilt I quilted this year. Made by Jane with the Zen Chic fabric line Day in Paris and the Summer Moon quilt pattern by Carrie Nelson. Sisters and Quilters has some of these fabrics available in fat quarters.
We talked about having this quilted custom, but I struggled coming up with something to quilt in all those random shaped backgrounds. It’s great to quilt quilts like these with a edge to edge design.
I used Bamboo batting and white 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread.

I chose my Diamond Squared©️ design to quilt it, and it turned out great!! It’s available in my shop or at Urban Elementz.
Such a fun quilt to start quilting for me this year!! That quilty texture has me so happy!
Last up…I just finished quilting this one a couple days ago. So, I thought I’d include it, too. Made by Sherry!
This pattern is by Pen and Paper Patterns, and is called Sewology. It’s such a fun quilt!! I have oodles of pictures to share, so you can see each block. First up the sewing machine, so fun…right?!?!
Sherry wanted it quilted custom, and was so kind to wait until after the holidays. Sometimes it’s hard to fit in a custom quilt right before I take my holiday break, and this is one that I definitely didn’t want to rush through really quick.
These stitches and scissors are fun!
I quilted a variety of different lines, to create textures and to define each notion.
When I was trying to figure out what to quilt in the background this fun overlapping circle design came to mind, inspired by the rotary cutter. Haha!! Reminded me of it. I love how it turned out!
Okay, that ruler takes up quite a bit of the quilt, and is my absolute favorite part. Seriously that texture is one of my favorites. Just those 1/2” lines, like I talked about above on Mary’s quilt border.

Some fun detail in the pencil, stitches, and seam ripper.
These spools turned out fun. I used my 3” Circle2 circle ruler to quilt the scallops on the third spool.
I wish you could see this in person. Pictures just don’t capture all the quilty goodness and textures.

My Circle2™ rulers come in high quality 1/4” acrylic, and are made in the USA. They are available in clear and green. If you’re used to using clear rulers, the clear would be great for you. With the green set it’s easier to see the lines on lighter fabrics. I use both.
Here is the biggest and smallest rulers in the set, in clear. The 2”/8” and the 7”/13”. There are 2 size circles per ruler, so you only need six rulers not twelve. The rulers range in size from 2”-13”. I designed them with the 1/4” hopping foot on your machine, in mind. When quilting with a circle ruler, typically the hopping foot adds an extra 1/2” to your quilted circle. Not the case with these rulers. No matter the ruler, you’ll get the correct size.
