Sherry’s Broomhilda's Bakery quilt!

Sherry made this amazing Broomhilda Bakery quilt, pattern by Kimberbell Designs.  The amazing thing about Kimberbell’s patterns, most of them are for those who machine embroider and she has great digital files for each block.  There is even some clear vinyl on some of them...look closely...like that jar of eye balls.

I wanted to add lots of textures throughout, repeating them here and there, to tie the quilting together.

I used 3 colors of thread.  White, black, and purple.  I know the white and black are 30 tex A&E Perma Core thread, I don’t remember if the purple is as well...or if it’s Signature thread.  I used an 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

Some close ups on all the quilty texture, on all the different blocks.

I used 2 of my Circle2™ rulers, to quilt this block.  The 2”/8” (both sizes) and if I remember right, the 4”.  To check out my rulers here is a blog post: https://www.quiltingit.com/blog/2018/10/10/introducing-my-circle2-longarm-circle-ruler-set or the link to them in my shop https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/circle2-longarm-ruler-set-green-acrylic

Even those some of the designs I quilted aren’t necessarily Halloweeny, they go really well with the overall design of the quilt!!  The quilty texture is a perfect combo with all the fun blocks on this quilt.

Kimberbell Designs is known for 3D elements added to their quilts or patterns.

It’s hard to see, unless you look closely...I quilted a pinstripe in the black border.  I used the 8” edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple.  I used a couple of her other edge rulers, when I quilted different blocks inside the quilt as well.  You can never know which size you’ll use the most, so I encourage you to get her set.

Thank you for coming by!!  I have more quilty Halloween stuff coming your way soon.

Happy quilting!!

Introducing my “Circle2™” longarm circle ruler set!!

The past several years, when I would share which rulers I was using to custom machine quilt...I was often asked which circle ruler set I would recommend.  I didn’t have a recommendation.  I was using a solid circle ruler, that only had two lines, one vertical and one horizontal...which crossed each other in the center.  While these rulers worked, they weren’t the easiest to maneuver and didn’t have all the lines to help keep my quilting more accurate.  Another thing about these rulers, they were cut to the exact size of circle.  A 4” circle cut at 4”, so when I quilted out a circle it actually ended up being 4.5”, because the manufacturer didn’t take into consideration the 1/2” that the hopping foot added.  That is why I prefer machine quilting rulers, designed by machine quilters.  We understand the importance of which lines are best where.

- Design Patent D875,574 -

So...I set out to design a circle ruler set of my own.    Which brings me to “Circle2™“.  When I designed this set, I wanted to make sure there were 2 sizes of circles in each ruler, so we (you and I) would only need 6 rulers instead of 12.  These rulers were designed to give you and I the ability to quilt out full sized circles...so, the 4” circle will quilt a 4” circle.  (To get the correct measurement on each of the rulers, you must quilt out a full circle. )  You may be wondering how you quilt a full circle, with only 3/4th of a circle ruler.  I recommend quilting a majority of the circle, and then putting the needle down, rotating the ruler and lining up the spacing making sure there is a 1/4” on both sides, and then finishing the circle.  I personally am going to use these rulers more often, to quilt a variety of different sized orange peels and scalloped borders, which I’ve been doing with my prototypes...as I’ve been waiting for my patent to be filed.  Now that it’s filed, I can share them with you!!!

Circle rulers, just like any curve set, are my go to rulers.  Which size do I use the most?...all of them equally.  Sometimes sashing is super long between blocks, and I love to add my cross crossed scallop design, so I audition my rulers to see which is the best fit.  I suggest getting a set, you never know which circle curve will fit best where.  Before I share with you different designs we could quilt using these rulers, I would like to share with you the 6 different sized rulers.

I carry these rulers in two different colors clear and green clear (pictured in this post), and are made with high quality acrylic.  Clear are available here: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/circle2-longarm-ruler-set-clear-acrylic   Green sets are available here: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/circle2-longarm-ruler-set-green-acrylic  The difference between the green and clear acrylic, it’s easier to see the lines on the green rulers...when quilting on light fabrics.  If you’re used to using clear rulers, and don’t have a hard time seeing, clear would be great for you!

Here is the biggest ruler, 7”/13”.

Next up the 6”/12”.

The 5”/11”.

The 4”/10”

The 3”/9”.

The smallest of the set comes in at 2”/8”.

If you notice along the straight edge of the rulers, the increments are 1/2”.  These measurements, once again, take into consideration the 1/4” hopping foot.  Which is helpful if you’re quilting cross hatching arcs, which I will show a picture of below.

- Design Patent D875,574 - ©️2018 Quilting It - by Leisha Farnsworth.  These images may not be used in any way.

So...let’s talk about how to use these rulers.

These two quilts are a great example of what a variety of different sized orange peels can add to any custom quilting.  If you’re not familiar with what an orange peel is in quilting...it’s all those petals.

I quilted this tumbler quilt with a circle ruler...quilted from the bottom to the top.

There is so much you can do with a circle.

These are a couple of different examples of the scallops I do in sashing, and then along the borders.  I love it when they cross cross.  Be sure when quilting this border design, you don’t quilt too close to both the seam and the raw edge of the quilt, while still getting that nice space between the curves.  Pictured below is a quilt made up of all orange peels, it was extremely helpful to have a circle ruler to quilt just inside those curves.

Next up...my favorite way to use a circle curve.

Here are two great examples of the cross hatched arc.  While the one above (in the aqua and green fabrics) curves inward, meeting in the center...the one below curves outward, framing the block perfectly.  The one below is also my favorite way to quilt those big triangle blocks that finish the edge off, when a quilt is pieces on point.

I hope you can see the endless possibilities, with these rulers!!  I will post when the clear sets are available.  I recommend subscribing to my YouTube channel, if you haven’t already.  www.youtube.com/user/QuiltingIt

International shipping is available, if it won’t work in checkout, let me know.  Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a great week!

-leisha

NOTE: A protective paper will be attached to the top side of the ruler, when it ships to you, to prevent scratches. To remove the paper, use your fingernail. A knife or scissors may scratch your ruler.  Go to my YouTube channel for a short video on this: https://youtu.be/eOSu_ZQ5E4g

To prevent chips in your rulers, you need to hold the ruler butted up next to the hopping foot. You must use a ruler base to give you more stability. Keep the ruler flat, tilting the ruler can cause it to catch under the hopping foot or catch in between the needle bar and top of the hopping foot.

Baby + Quilt

My sister Amanda, made this fun quilt for her sister in-law who is about to have a baby boy!  I love it!

Those dark grey plus’ are just so striking!!

My sister got her fabrics from https://www.sistersandquilters.com/

She used moda’s black cross weave, and Zen Chic’s dotted line fabric from their new White Christmas line.  It has a gold dot every once in awhile.

She decided on my Squared©️ digital machine quilting pantograph design, for the quilting.  It quilted out beautifully and is available at https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/squared

Seriously loving the texture this quilting design gave this quilt.  The on point square is a great contrast to the large +’s.

I used Antique Cream 30 tex Perma Core A&E thread and 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

Amanda also picked Shannon Fabrics super soft embossed Cuddle (minky) dot for the backing.

Love what I do, especially when I get to do it for family!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy quilting!

Let’s Bake

Terri made this amazing Let’s Bake quilt, pattern and fabrics by Lori Holt.  Seriously, the details in every block are so beautifully done.

I used a circle ruler set I designed for the curves along the outside border...they are on their way to me, and I’ll share soon!  So excited!  I also used the Quilted Pineapple Edge rulers by Linda, for all the straight lines in this quilt, they are my go to straight rulers!

It’s fun to freemotion quilt, and add all that fun texture!

One of my favorite parts of this quilt is all of the cross stitching...look at that recipe, and those sweet flowers!!

Another picture with that curved border, that I love to quilt...using my Circle2 rulers.

Terri brought some of the Hobbs Wool batting, which adds the most beautiful loft to any quilt.  I used Antique Cream Perma Core A&E 30 tex thread.

Now...I think I need to go bake some cookies!!

Happy quilting!!

Jen’s 100 Good Wishes quilt!!

What is a 100 Good Wishes quilt?  After searching, this is what I came across.   “A custom that originated in China, the “100 Wishes Quilt” or Bai Jia Bei, was originally created by having friends each contribute a quilt square as a show of love for the new child.”

Jen and her husband adopted their daughter from China in 2012, and she has a special birthday coming up...8!  She wanted to have this quilt quilted and ready to give to her in November when she gets baptized.

Each of these fabric squares were sent to Jen to add to this quilt from family and friends.

It reminds me of a postage stamp quilt I made years ago.  One of them even came with a cute button sewn in the middle.  I did remove it to quilt the quilt, and sewed it back on afterwards.

Some of the squares even have sweet hand drawn pictures.

I decided to quilt Soho on it by Sarah Ann Myers and it’s available at  https://www.urbanelementz.com/soho.html

I also used a white 30 Tex A&E Perma Core thread, and 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.

Look at that minky and quilting!!!  This is why I love quilting minky that is solid.  The quilting texture is always amazing when the minky is solid.

I hope Jen’s daughter feels extra loved by her 100 Good Wishes!

Kristen’s Ellie the Elephant quilt!

Kristen made this super sweet Ellie the Elephant quilt, pattern by Ten Sisters, for her first grand baby.  The entire center is made of 1” squares, using a method that Ten Sisters teach.  Their method insures that you’re going to get seams matching up and square.

I used a Perma Core cream thread, Antique Cream from A&E 30 Tex.  I also used 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.

A close up on cute Ellie the Elephant!!!

I freehand quilted the swirls, and used my favorite Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt all the straight lines.  I did a crosshatch in Ellie’s ear, which I love next to those swirls.  I like the texture from mixing hard and soft lines.  Then I quilted 1” squares offset from the pieced squares.  Which helps make Ellie stand out more.

I love the low volume background!

Let’s talk about borders...the ribbon candy design in the purple inner border goes well with the other curves I quilted, and it’s my favorite way to add a little something extra to your borders or sashing.  For the outside scrappy pink border, I used one of my new rulers...that I designed, which I’m hoping to release soon...to quilt the orange peel petals that alternate around the quilt.  I love where the corners meet up, making 3/4ths of a orange peel circle.  I think it frames the quilt nicely.  I wanted to keep this more of a light custom quilt, because there is minky on the back, and too much quilting on a quilt with minky batting...just makes the quilt top stiff.

The sweet baby who gets to be cuddled up in this quilt is lucky!!

happy quilting!!  - leisha

Barbara’s picture quilt!

Barbara made this quilt and another one...here ready to be quilted...for her granddaughters. This one is awesome!!  I mean, look at that awesome minky backing...(you may need to go to my blog, if you get these posts through emails, to see the post header picture that has the minky backing.)

Her granddaughter plays soccer for the local high school, and so I wanted the quilting to go along with the theme of the quilt...without being too cheesy.  I thought Mod Dotz by Patricia Ritter at Urban Elementz would be a great fit.  I did it at a larger scale, because of the minky backing texture.  I don’t love tight quilting on minky quilts, either...it takes away from the softness of the minky.  Go here to get the Mod Dotz design:    https://www.urbanelementz.com/mod-dotz.html

I used a white 30 Tex Perma Core A&E thread and Winline 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.

I quilted this using my Statler (computer/software for the Gammill longarm machines) and so I trimmed around the pictures so that the quilting wouldn’t quilt the pictures...then I used my favorite Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt in the ditch around the pictures.

Look at that minky texture + the quilting!!!  Love it!

thanks for stopping by!  - Leisha

For those of you interested, this is what Barbara used to print the pictures onto the fabric.  She buys them at JoAnn’s.

Sherry’s Butterfly Garden quilt~!

I love love this quilt!!  The navy solid background fabric makes all those vibrant colors pop.  This pattern is called Butterfly Garden by Lori Holt and is in her Quilty Fun book.

Such a fun happy quilt!!

I love the variety of fabrics, it’s quilts like these that are perfect scrap bin quilts.

Some close ups of the butterflies and the quilting.  I chose to quilt my new “Foil©️” design on this quilt, and I love how it turned out.  It’s available in several different digital formats on my website: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/foil  When I saw this quilt for the first time, I knew this is what I wanted to quilt on it.  I think it fits well with the modern butterflies and flowers.

My Foil©️ design, pictured below.

I used a white 30 Tex A&E Perma Core thread and my favorite Winline 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.  When it comes to using different colored threads on contrasting fabrics...especially when doing edge to edge quilting...I prefer lighter/neutral thread on darker fabrics, than darker thread on lighter fabrics.  I think the lighter thread blends in pretty well, and doesn’t stand out or take away from the quilt pattern and fabrics used.  Custom quilting is completely different.  Matching thread colors to quilts is key.

Here is Foil©️ with the flowers.  Love these sweet flowers!!

Thank you for coming by!!!  Happy sewing!

Machine Quilting Classes!!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to longarm machine quilt???  If you’re local to Logan, Utah...now is your chance!  I’m teach not one but two classes.  One for beginners and one for advanced quilters.  Could you take both classes?  Absolutely!  The awesome thing about these classes, they are hands on.  You will be using a Baby Lock longarm machine.

In the beginners class, I’m going to teach several fun all over freehand designs, like this wood grain.  In the quilting world, it’s called free motion...meaning that you’re moving the machine, not a computer.  Also, some great tips on how to start a business or deal with those pesky borders that like to wave on us sometimes.  I want you to leave feeling confident and ready to quilt more than just a basic stipple.

For my advanced class, we are going to focus on custom quilting, and yes...there will be rulers!!  No need to be scared.  Rulers can add great texture and dimension to any shape or block on your quilt!  AND...I’m excited to share, I’ll be debuting a set of my own longarm rulers in this class.  They are just about to be released, and I’m excited to add them to my longarm ruler collection.  Custom quilting adds sooo much more personality to a quilt.  Do I think every quilt should be custom quilted, no.  We’ll talk about that, too.  My hope is that you leave class with some technics that will lead you to creating your own personal quilting style.  No two quilters, quilt the same.  We can also talk about some issues you may be having with quilts that you’ve been quilting.  Talking with other quilters has always been a wealth of knowledge for me.

A recent quilt I quilted...

The quilt pictured above was made by Beth, and I quilted it back in April.  I’m amazed at all I’ve learned...and with the years of practice I have under my belt...quilting a quilt like this one is possible.  It’s one of my most favorite quilts I’ve ever quilted, and I’m excited to see what I’ll get to quilt next.

Below is a link to the classes...please let me know if you have any questions.

http://mygirlfriendsquiltshoppe.com/logan-ut/product/long-arm-quilting/

My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe has a new Sewing & Machine Education Center in Sandy Utah, and has a beautiful debuting catalog with a wide variety of classes available...and my classes are listed on page 11.  If you haven’t pick up your catalog yet, stop by one of their locations and see all the amazing classes they’re offering!  My classes are going to be at their Logan Utah store.

Thank you for following along with me!!  I’m so incredibly blessed and grateful to turn something I love, into my livelihood.

In the Logan store, there is a quilt display with several of my quilts.  Pop on by and check them out.

Kathy’s Swell Christmas quilt!

There are Christmas quilts, and then there is this Swell Christmas quilt, made by Kathy and pattern/fabrics by Urban Chiks.  It’s a box kit from Moda.  The Santa makes the quilt, actually he is most of the quilt.  And, so adorable at that!!

Seriously, that Santa!!

Kathy and I looked through a bunch of swirly/circle designs, and she decided on this one...Gingersnap by Apricot Moon Designs.  I saw it on a winter quilt a quilty friend of mine quilted recently...so I was excited to see how it quilted out, especially on Santa’s beard.

These throw back traditional fabrics and colors by Urban Chiks are such a hit.  I used Antique Cream A&E Perma Core 30 Tex thread and my favorite 8020 Winline batting.

Beard pic...see what I mean.  That quilty texture is just so fun!

The backing fabric is equally fun!!  Christmas quilting has started...excited to see what is next.

Thank you for coming by!  Happy sewing.

Karen’s beautiful Log Cabin Home quilt

Isn’t this quilt absolutely amazing?!?!?!!!  Karen always does a beautiful job on her quilts.

I love the pops of rust added throughout this quilt.  The pattern that Karen used is by Miss Rosie’s Farmhouse, it’s called Cracked Pots.

I used Patricia Ritter and my Ginger©️ pantograph design to quilt this quilt, it’s available in paper and digital formats at https://www.urbanelementz.com/ginger.html

I love that the quilting is dancing across the quilt.  Look at all of these cute houses.

I used Dyed Natural 30 tex Perma Core A&E thread, and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.

There is nothing like quilty texture on minky.

thank you for stopping by!!  Have a great week!

Beth’s sweet quilt!

I love the soft colors of this beautiful quilt.  AND, I love that I got to quilt out one of my brand NEW designs!  Beaded Clam©️!!

Beth did an absolutely beautiful job making this quilt.  She fussy cut the hexie fabric for the sashing, and was right on with every point.

The quilt pattern and fabric are by 3 Sisters and is the Victoria quilt...and it was one of Moda’s box kits.

I used Antique Cream 30 Tex Perma Core A&E thread, and Beth brought a 8020 cotton poly batting.  I think it was a Hobbs batt.

I sent a link to all of my new designs, on my website, to Beth and let her pick a design.  Beaded Clam was one of her choices, and I thought it would be a perfect match.  I couldn’t LOVE it more!!  Thank you, Beth, for being the first to let me quilt out one of my very own designs on a quilt.

This is one of the options for this design, and the one I quilted on her quilt.  Here is a link to my shop to see all my designs: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop

I love love love the texture this design creates.  You may notice spots on the minky back, where the circles have a bump or notch in them...that is totally the minky pile.  If you turn the quilt over and look at the quilting on the front of the quilt, it is a perfectly quilted circle.  This design quilts out beautifully!

I love the front and back texture shown below.  My job is so fun!!!!

Thank you for coming by!  Happy quilting!

Loranne’s Quilt!

Loranne made this amazing quilt, after creating the pattern herself.  I love that it showcases the yellow peacock fabric, and the colors are amazing.  Sorry the pictures aren’t the best.

This quilt has some amazing borders.  So fun to quilt all of this free motion/free hand.  I used a couple of different Edge rulers from Linda at TheQuiltedPineapple.com to quilt all the lines, and a ruler of my own to quilt the curves.  I hope to debut them all to you super soon.  So excited!!

All this texture is just awesome, and enhances the design of the quilt.

I didn’t want to distract from the yellow framed peacocks, so I quilted some 1” squares in some of them and some Diagonal diamonds in the others.

My new ruler created these awesome curves...

And also the curves in the aqua sashing.

I used 4 different colors of A&E thread.  Yellow, cream, red, and aqua.  Which match perfectly.  I used my favorite 8020 cotton poly Winline batting.

I love pictures of backing...i love it when the light can pick up all the designs.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Holland baby quilt!

One of our neighbor friends is having her first little girl, and she hoped and waited for her, for awhile.  My mom and I joined forces with another friend, who sews with us a lot, to make this for her.  Baby is coming any day!!  We are so excited for them.

The pattern is called Holland and it’s by Vanessa from Lella Boutique.  I first fell in love with this pattern after I saw her navy background Holland quilt.  The tulips are huge, so cute, and fun to make.  We also used two of Vanessa’s fabrics...the green stems and the flower tips, which if I remember right are both from her Nest line.  The coral mini heart fabric is from Stacy Hsu.  The grey background is a Bella solid from Moda.

I used New Moon Loops by Wasatch Quilting, to quilt it.  I made the loops bigger than the standard size that comes during setup, because the backing has minky on it, and the tulips are so big...I like the quilting to be at a proper scale.

I used Antique Cream 30 tex Perma Core A&E thread and 8020 batting to quilt it.

This quilt is being bound as I type this, with the sweet mini pink hearts.  Can’t wait to give this one away.  Thanks for coming by!!!

Laurie’s baby quilt

Laurie and her sister made this simple baby quilt for her sisters daughter, who is having a baby girl.  They used Bonnie and Camille’s Vintage Holiday fabric line, and took out all of the Christmasy fabrics.

I used my and Patricia Ritter’s “Chantilly”©️ pantograph design, that is available in paper and digital formats at Urban Elementz.  https://www.urbanelementz.com/chantilly.html

A sweet close up on the swirls and flower petals.

I used Antique Cream 30 Tex Perma Core thread from A&E, and 8020 cotton/poly blend batting from Winline.

I must note, my favorite Cuddle™️ (Minky) is the solid ones from Shannon Fabrics.  For the bigger throws, it even comes in 90” wide.  I love our Chantilly©️ quilted out...or rather, dancing across the quilt.

Marla’s amazing Steam Punk quilt!

It’s always a treat to custom quilt, quilts like this one.  Marla made this amazing Steam Punk quilt, pattern by Jen Kingwell.

I love the pops of color with the scrappy low volume background, and the black sashing...such a striking combination.

Marla requested a custom quilting design.  When I can, I draw out the shape of the block on grid paper, and then sketch one or two options.  This was my favorite of the two, that I sent to Marla.  It translated so well from a drawing to quilting.

I used a 30 tex Perma Core thread from A&E called Antique Cream.  I also used my favorite Winline 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.

I also wanted to keep the sashing simple, because it was an 1” wide, and I wanted it to frame the quilt nicely. I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I love the four pointed star in the intersecting corners. On the back side of the quilt it looks amazing. (See pictures below)

In the past, I haven’t loved quilting the on point triangle blocks that fill in the edges on a quilt that is designed on point...that is until I started doing ruler work and adding some interest to an otherwise plain part of the quilt.  This is a new take to a curve design that I’ve done several times.  1” lines crisscrossing to create a 4” grid.  Which actually mimics the four 1/2” grid in the center on each block.  I love tying the same design in different ways, on the same quilt.  It creates cohesion in the quilting design.

I always love a good angled picture of a quilt to show all that texture.

This is the block that I quilted in the video below.

The purpose of this video, is to show the process of quilting a block custom as continuously as possible, and how I went about it.  I love watching the ruler twist about as I quilt.  That is what works for me.  I twist it like that so I can use the lines on the ruler and not have to make a single mark on the quilt.  I love The Edge rulers from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple!!  I’m using her 16” Edge here.  To check out her awesome rulers go to: https://thequiltedpineapple.bigcartel.com/

Hope that helps to see how I go about custom quilting this block.  One of the reasons I don’t quilt over a previously quilted line or go into the ditch and make my way to the last background that I couldn’t quilt continuously, is because my personal quilting style is to keep my quilting as clean as possible.  Excess quilting detracts from the overall design I want the quilting to have on a quilt.  I would much rather stop and start one extra time.

The overall design is pretty great, if you ask me.  It shows great on the back as well...

It’s always fun for me to see how the custom quilting in the blocks and sashing on the quilt top, turn out on the backing.  This one didn’t disappoint.  I love the echoed 4 pointed star in the sashing, I didn’t see the outside layer until I looked at the back, after it was all quilted.

Here is a view of the on point triangle edge block, from the back.

Thank you for coming by!!  Please let me know if you have any questions.

LeAnn’s “a tale of two gnomes” quilt!

LeAnn made this super cute “a tale of two gnomes” quilt, with a Christmas/winter look to it.  I love it!!!  Pattern is by Abbey Lane Quilts.

LeAnn chose minky for the backing, so the quilt had to be pinned on lengthwise.  Which means the quilting design, Frost©️...one of Patricia Ritter and my designs,  got to quilt out vertical.  Snowflakes twisting and falling!!!  My favorite!  Frost is available at https://www.urbanelementz.com/frost.html

A close up on the super cute snowflakes.

I used a cream Perma Core thread called Antique Cream it’s a 30 Tex, and my favorite 8020 Winline cotton/poly blend batting.

I love the trees and Christmasy gnomes!!!

I love the texture that quilting creates on the solid Cuddle (minky) backings.  Shannon Fabrics carry the best line of minky in the quilting industry.

Love how the snowflakes are dancing across the minky.

Thank you for coming by!!!

Happy sewing!

Jeanne’s Patriotic Log Cabin quilt 🇺🇸

Jeanne is one of my new clients from the northeast part of the United States.  Yes, I have wonderful clients who mail me quilts and when I’m done, I send them back.  With priority shipping it made it back in two days.

Jeanne made this quilt for her husband who’s birthday is next month, and he’s very patriotic.  He will love it!!  Jeanne’s sweet friend Chris is teaching her how to sew, and she’s doing a beautiful job.  I’m impressed with how flat and straight everything was.

This traditional quilt pattern is called a Log Cabin, and is very striking in red, blue, and tan.

Jeanne looked through my designs and chose Twirl©️ by Patricia Ritter and me.  It’s available in paper and digital formats, (like all of our Urban Elementz designs are, and is available at https://www.urbanelementz.com/twirl.html

I chose to use a tan color of Perma Core thread called Beige 32158 from A&E, it’s 30 Tex.  There are a couple of different beige colors...so I added the color number.  This color is definitely more toupe than a golden tan.  I think it blends nicely.

I chose the Twirl name for this design, because it reminds me of my nieces who love to twirl, spin, and dance every time we are together.

I used my favorite 8020 cotton/poly blend batting from Winline.  LuAnn’s batting is my favorite!!

Jeanne also requested that I bind her quilt, so when it arrived home it was all finished and ready to go.  I charge $.25 a running inch to hand bind.  I don’t do machine binding.  I love the look of the swirls on the backing.

Thanks for stopping by and supporting my quilting!!  You’re the best.
